Freelancing in the field of NoCode and AI offers a promising path for those wishing to breathe new life into their careers.
This choice is often motivated by a desire for independence, a willingness to reinvent oneself, and the freedom to create innovative solutions without having to master complex programming languages. Yet this transition also brings its own challenges.
Coraline Guillevic, a former learner in our 15-month training program (including 3 months of intensive Bootcamp and 12 months of alternating work experience in a company), and Michaël Bourgeois, a former learner in our 30-hour online training program, recently took the plunge into freelancing.
Discover their 5 essential tips for starting out as a freelancer:
Going freelance means wearing many hats: project management, prospecting, creation and delivery. Coraline and Michaël emphasize the importance of accepting this multi-faceted role and getting well organized to cope with it: "As a NoCode freelancer, you have to manage your business from start to finish, from customer acquisition to finalizing deliverables."
This autonomy enables us to achieve our full potential, but it also requires the ability to adapt and anticipate future contracts.
🤵 Tip: Good organization is the key to success. Adopt a routine to balance administrative tasks, prospecting and production. Right from the start of your business, optimize the search for new customers, even if your order book is full. This will stabilize your situation in the long term. Use NoCode tools like Notion and Trello to help you manage your 360° projects.
One of the advantages of NoCode is the freedom to create solutions quickly and test ideas without heavy technical constraints. Coraline, for example, has put this creativity to good use, learning daily from the deliverables of different customers. NoCode tools such as Webflow, Bubble or Make open up opportunities for profiles from a variety of sectors, who don't necessarily have programming expertise.
🤵 Tip: Continuous learning is essential. As a NoCode freelancer, the ability to train regularly will enable you to broaden your skills and innovate to meet your customers' specific needs.
One of the main challenges for freelancers is to build up a long-term clientele. Michaël talks about the difficulty of finding nearby customers and the fear of prospecting for new ones. While finding customers close by or within your initial network may seem natural at first, this dynamic can quickly run out of steam: "In my opinion, prospecting, networking and a visibility strategy are just essential to ensure long-term financial stability", Coraline confides.
🤵 Tip: Set up a prospecting process. Whether through social networks, freelancing platforms or an extended professional network, consider investing time in building a base of potential customers.
At the same time, cultivate relationships with your existing customers to foster long-term collaborations or obtain referrals. And yes, word of mouth really does work!
Coraline has found that some customers are looking for specific design skills, a gap in her initial career. In the field of web design, many prospects are looking for profiles capable of designing visually appealing interfaces. This requirement can be an obstacle for some freelancers.
🤵 Tip: Communicate your development, integration and migration skills first to attract prospects looking for these specific services.
If possible, upskillez yourself in parallel with your business in other fields thanks to tutorials. A multi-faceted approach allows you to respond to a wider range of demand while standing out from the crowd!
As a freelancer, every project is an opportunity to learn. The different assignments allow you to strengthen your skills, explore new industries and adapt your methods to each customer's expectations. Coraline and Michaël share the view that this dynamic of continuous learning is one of the riches of freelancing.
🤵 Tip: Take advantage of every assignment to enrich your portfolio and identify areas in which you want to specialize. Documenting your achievements and learning from them will help you progress while showing future customers your ability to evolve and adapt.
Retraining as a NoCode & AI freelancer is a rewarding adventure that offers freedom and autonomy, but also demands perseverance and versatility. Coraline Guillevic and Michaël Bourgeois, by sharing their experiences, show that success in this field relies on the ability to anticipate challenges, develop complementary skills and proactively build a client base. With an organized approach and a willingness to learn, it's possible to build a sustainable and fulfilling career in the dynamic world of NoCode and AI.
