How to boost your business with Nocode, according to Thibault Douillard
As part of Nocode Série n°15 on January 11, 2024, Nocode entrepreneur Thibault Douillard shared his experience. This exchange offered unique insights into the digital transformation of companies, the reduction of costs and development times thanks to Nocode tools, and the significant impact of this approach on companies and what led him to create his start-up in Brittany.
His background
Thibault Douillard worked as a management controller at Leroy Merlin, a major company in the DIY sector. Faced with the limitations and rigidity of IT procedures within such a structure - as in most large groups it often takes a long time to modify processes - Thibault turned to Nocode. He first turned to the Glide tool, to offer more flexible and innovative solutions, boosting processes at Leroy Merlin and then creating his start-up Kapli.
His vision of Nocode
Thibault Douillard sees Nocode as an essential, strategic element for the future of businesses. He sees Nocode not only as a technological breakthrough, but also as a necessity for companies wishing to remain competitive. In his view, the future of business will fall into two categories: companies that adopt Nocode to increase productivity and speed up their processes, and those that don't adapt and could find themselves in difficulty in the face of competition. This perspective, which he began to develop at Leroy Merlin, is increasingly being observed in several major groups. For Thibault, the Nocode is synonymous with significant change, indicating a move towards an era where flexibility and adaptability are key to business success.
How Thibault integrated Nocode into Leroy Merlin's processes
Thibault Douillard initially discovered Nocode tools in his personal sphere, before applying them at Leroy Merlin. He observed that, in the context of large groups at the time, projects were essentially managed by IT teams, resulting in long and costly development times. To address this issue, Thibault began training on Glide in parallel with his job, relying on online content. He identified a number of potentially beneficial use cases in the context of his job. Subsequently, he began using the Nocode Glide tool for his professional needs, which significantly increased his efficiency and that of his store teams.
By using Glide, Thibault has been able to digitalize a significant part of his work. One of his missions at Leroy Merlin focused on improving in-store safety. The application he developed with Glide played a crucial role in managing employee safety. Thanks to this application, the time spent managing in-store safety coaching was cut by a factor of three. This significant improvement in safety management led to a reduction in work-related accidents in his store. On the strength of this success, his application was then redeveloped by the IT teams and adopted in all Leroy Merlin stores, following validation by the IT department.
His tips for progressing in Nocode
In his discussion, Thibault Douillard offers advice for those wishing to explore or become more involved in Nocode, particularly in the context of large enterprises. One key point he stresses is the importance of starting with modest projects. Thibault advises against immediately aiming for large-scale projects, but rather to focus on small-scale initiatives that can nevertheless have a significant impact. This approach allows us to initiate a process of Nocode integration while concretely demonstrating its added value.
Thibault also stresses the importance of training alongside one's job. He encourages professionals to familiarize themselves with Nocode tools and concepts while continuing their current work. This ongoing training enables them to acquire new skills and keep up to date with technological developments, while adding value to their current role within the company. According to Thibault, this dual approach, combining ongoing training and impactful projects, is an effective strategy for success in the Nocode world, whether within a major corporation or as an independent entrepreneur.
