Portrait of Brice Rivière Dolly, Nocode developer

Brice is a 25-year-old father of 2 from the Gard region of France, who has already had a busy start to his career. He joined the fourth promotion of the Alegria.academy. Passionate about website design, the Nocode program has enabled him to develop his skills.

A well-thought-out career change

Before entering the world of tech, Brice studied radio journalism and then began working as an educational assistant in a secondary school. During his career in the French education system, he became the father of a little boy at the age of 22, in 2020. Tired of the job, he decided to end his contract in August 2022, at which point his technology-related life began.

Brice then began to wonder about the bottlenecks that freelancers can encounter: "It was at this point that I realized that creating a website is far from being innate, so I started self-training on Wordpress and opened my own business".

Thanks to Youtube, forums and all the resources available on the internet, he created his first websites with Wordpress, Elementor and Woocommerce.

Brice lived in a small village, full of people in search of digitalization. It wasn't long before he found the first customers for his self-employed business, thanks to his determination and persuasiveness in going door-to-door to offer his services. "I offered prices that defied all competition! It worked out pretty well."

In September 2022, he then joined his friend Freddy's digital marketing company, Wydden, as a Wordpress Trainer for entrepreneurs.

Despite his comfort and stable professional situation, Brice was always on the lookout for knowledge, "from the age of 20 to 30, I wanted to acquire as many skills as possible". So, together with his wife, he planned his own professional retraining. This huge change had been carefully thought through, and it was thanks to his wife's invaluable support that he was able to take the plunge.

But it wasn't without risk! A career change when you're settled with your pregnant wife and first child is anything but straightforward. But Brice managed to reconcile his professional and personal life, with the aim of acquiring as much knowledge as possible, by returning to his studies at Alegria.academy.

Discovering the Nocode

Brice discovered Nocode when he wondered whether Wordpress was the only tool for creating websites, and what the alternatives might be. That's how he discovered Bubble, where he found the drag-and-drop principle present on Wordpress. Continuing his research, he came across the term "Nocode" and realized that he was already familiar with Notion without being aware of its power, since he already uses it in his daily life with his wife to manage the family's schedule. "My whole family life is organized around Notion! Whether it's for our financial management, our gift ideas or even our daily routine, it's all on there. Notion is a real life facilitator!" he adds with a laugh, "Notion has saved us so much time in managing our lives that it's saved us a lot of arguments. Notion kind of saved my marriage!"

Brice confides about his experience as a Wordpress trainer: "I was no longer fulfilled, I was training but not evolving, I felt frustrated not being a Wordpress expert or being able to upgrade my skills on other tools". In October 2022, he discovered Nocode and wondered about self-training again. Despite the resources available online, this sector seemed to him to be a niche, so he continued his research and found Alegria.academy. The training format is an ideal solution for acquiring new skills and staying in the professional world through work-study.

Brice wants to work on the elements that impact users. His desire is compatible with his desire to master tools such as Bubble, Webflow and Figma. That's why he opted for the Visual Programming specialization.

Its evolution, between Nocode and Lowcode

At the end of the 3-month Bootcamp, Brice joined Greenly's remote Product Builder team. In practice, Brice mainly works on low-code projects, as he mainly works on Retool, which has made him aware of the importance of code and how to implement it in low-code tools. Brice adds, "Greenly is a company in line with my values, and I'm delighted to be taking part in the growth of a company that enables its customers to measure, manage and reduce their CO2 emissions."

Can you tell us about a project you've been working on?

Brice plays soccer as a hobby with his friends. They often ask "Who's available?" on Whatsapp to organize matches. One day, Brice and his friend Freddy wondered if there was a way to automate these exchanges. With ease, the young man developed an application on Glide, connected to Airtable.

How it works

The application sent out a notification asking "Who's available?", and all the other players had to do was answer yes or no on Glide. The data was then transmitted to Airtable and automatically sent back to Glide, announcing the number of players available!

Your proudest project

The project he's most proud of is the one he developed with his classmates Coraline Guillevic, Lynda Ramos and Rémi Philippon. As part of the Alegria.academy training program, they developed this project: a rental management system on Airtable called "Easyloc". The aim was to automate property management with a login and form system, as well as a landing page.

How it works

The property owner enters his or her details in a form, which is then transferred to the Airtable database and displayed on the landing page, making the owner's useful information visible.

If you had to give community members a cheat code, what would it be?

"There's a tendency to sell Nocode as something easy to access, because not having to code to develop is selling, in reality, Nocode becomes easy when you get interested in it! My cheat code would be quite simply: curiosity. That's what's going to push you forward and, above all, to learn."

What next?

Brice sees being in his twenties as a time when he's assimilating as many skills as possible. He doesn't see himself working as a freelancer. He would prefer to continue his adventure with Greenly or join a Nocode agency to continue developing his skills and work in a new environment. Eventually, to combine versatility and skills, he would like to be a project manager.

The most important thing for him is to obtain a position of high responsibility and professional stability so that he can be as present as possible for his family.

The last word

"I thank my wife because we tend to overlook the fact that it's women who take care of the baby most of the time. It's not normal for a woman to neglect her projects and career, so thanks to her. We tend to trivialize the fact that they do it, when it could have been me who made the sacrifice, so I'm pretty lucky on that score".
